Born in New York City, Lindsay Cheng began playing the cello at the age of eight. She is currently pursuing her Masters degree in Cello Performance at the Hochschule für Musik in Freiburg, Germany, studying with Elena Cheah. An avid chamber musician, she has played in numerous chamber ensembles under the guidance of Menahem Pressler, Jennifer Koh, and also members of The Pacifica, The Miami, and The Orion String Quartets. She has also participated in several masterclasses with cellists Maria Kliegel, Troels Svane, and Bonnie Hampton. In 2019, Lindsay received her Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music as a Premier Young Artist Scholar and also with a certificate in Music Entrepreneurship from the Kelly School of Business. She was in the studio of Eric Kim. Her past teachers also include Marion Feldmon, and Ole Akahoshi. Lindsay is honored to play a Neuner and Hornsteiner cello made in Mittenwald, Germany, generously on loan to her by the Carlsen Cello Foundation.
